Democrats Deliver: Historic Investment in America

For decades, the U.S. has increasingly exported jobs and imported products, while other countries surpassed us in critical sectors like infrastructure, clean energy, semiconductors, and biotechnology.

But now, thanks to President Biden’s Investing in America Agenda – including historic legislation passed by Congress and signed into law by the President (the American Rescue Plan, Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, CHIPS and Science Act, and Inflation Reduction Act) – that is changing. Our country is being transformed for the better, reaching communities in every corner of the United States, including those that have too often been left behind.

More specifically, President Biden’s Investing in America agenda is:

Bringing manufacturing back to America after decades of offshoring. In fact, American manufacturing growth started outpacing the rest of the world's growth at the end of last year — for the first time in recent memory (Per the Atlantic Council GeoEconomics Center).

Creating new, good-paying jobs, including union jobs and jobs that don’t require a college degree. Unemployment now stands at 3.7%, childcare programs have been reinvested in, and close to 12 million applications have been submitted so far to start brand new businesses.

Rebuilding our roads and bridges using Made in America materials, built by American workers. Over $220 Billion has been allocated to infrastructure – not just for roads and bridges, but also for water infrastructure and steps to make communities more resilient to climate change.

Examples of these infrastructure projects close to home include: replacing culverts throughout Ulster and Orange Counties; replacing stormwater basins in Poughkeepsie; improving the infrastructure at regional airports including Stewart, Poughkeepsie, Sullivan, and many others; repaving I-84 from Dutchess County to the CT State line; and repairing the Rt 9W wall in the Town of Highlands.

Lowering costs for many, including huge savings for seniors and other Medicare Part D beneficiaries, significant rebates for home energy improvements, and securing affordable internet connectivity to over 18 million homes.

Mobilizing historic levels of private sector investments in the United States – over $479 Billion in private dollars have been secured to date for 21st Century industry (semiconductors, clean energy, batteries/EVs, biomanufacturing, etc.).

On this last point, here are some of the companies making major investments in NYS (as of June 6, 2023):
